Diego Babino (Ushinaya)

Hellooo, I’m Diego Babino, a photographer from Geneva, Switzerland. I’m currently studying photography at CEPV, the School of Photography in Vevey. My work is closely connected to the things I’ve always been curious about. Aviation, technology, machines, archives, objects and the places built around them often become starting points for my projects. I’m particularly interested in the stories behind these subjects and what they tell us about a place, a time, or the people connected to them.

Photography is also a way for me to research, collect and understand. My projects often combine images I make myself with archival material, documents and found objects, moving somewhere between documentary work and a more personal approach.

I’m drawn to subjects that carry a sense of history, nostalgia or memory, and to details that might otherwise be overlooked. Most of my projects simply begin with something I’m fascinated by and want to know more about.
